1. Call Your Local Representative

U.S. Citizens can call their local representative to express concerns over the repeated phone threats. Find the phone number of your local representative and let your voice be heard. The JCCA has this suggested script to use when calling:

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].

I’m calling to urge the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Attorney General, and the Director of the FBI to take swift action to address the bomb threats that have been telephoned in to Jewish Community Centers (JCCs) across the nation and the rise of anti-Semitic incidents in the last two months. My JCC serves not just the Jewish community, but the entire community. Participants from all different backgrounds come to the JCC for activities, Jewish cultural and religious programming, and opportunities to come together as a community.

Thank you for your hard work answering the phones.

[IF LEAVING A VOICEMAIL: please leave your full street address to ensure your call is tallied]

2. Post and share

Whether it’s sharing an article on Facebook from a reputable news source or changing your profile picture to the #IStandWithTheJCC logo, your social media support matters and makes an impact.

3. Participate in community programs

Take a class in the JCC fitness center, see the Children’s Theatre production of The Jungle Book, sign your child up for camp, or participate in another JCC event. It is important for us as a community to stand together during this time and not let fear overcome us.

4. If you see something, say something

It’s easy to take for granted the routine moments in our every day—going to work or school, the grocery store or the gas station. But your every day is different than your neighbor’s—filled with the moments that make it uniquely yours. So if you see something you know shouldn’t be there—or someone’s behavior that doesn’t seem quite right—say something. Because only you know what’s supposed to be in your everyday. Informed and alert community members play a critical role in keeping us safe. So, If You See something, Say Something. If in our building, locate and notify one of our security guards. If outside of these walls, contact local law enforcement.

5. Donate

Consider donating to the JCC Denver or another Jewish organization. Now more than ever, it is important to stand up for what you believe in and use your voice as well as your wallet to show the world what matters most to you.
