Schools Out! by Camp Shai Icon

A day off of school just got a lot more fun!

School’s Out! Camps are scheduled around days that local schools are not in session. School’s Out! brings the magic of Camp Shai to the school year with fun and engaging programs for children of all backgrounds, beliefs, and abilities. By integrating our core Jewish values of kindness (chesed), respect (kavod), community (kehillah), positive attitude (ruach), and courage (ometz lev) into everything we do, children will gain resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

A Community Where Everyone Belongs:

At JCC Camp Shai, we aim to create a community that embraces diversity. We welcome all those who wish to participate, including but not limited to; people of any race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender identity and expression, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, family structure, ability, culture, and spirituality. At Camp Shai, it is our mission to help all campers in our care to spark their imagination and inspire them to celebrate their individuality. School’s Out! Camp FAQs

No, you do not have to be Jewish to attend. School’s Out! Focuses on universal human values (middot) with a Jewish lens; however, we embrace everyone who wants to be a part of our community. If you like games, arts and crafts, and fun campy songs, then School’s Out! Is the place for you!

School’s Out! does not provide meals for campers but we do provide a small morning and afternoon snack. All food provided by the JCC will have a hechsher symbol on it.

Yes! School’s Out! Is a nut-free program and we ask that all families help us in keeping our staff and camper safe. While we recognize that food restrictions can often be an additional burden for parents and their sometimes-picky eaters, we have made this policy change to accommodate the number of severe nut allergies amongst our camper and staff community.

We require the youngest campers to have completed at least one year of schooling and be at least 5 years-old before joining us at School’s Out! This is to ensure campers have the best possible experience with us.

In order to register your camper, families will need to utilize the CampInTouch system. To create a new account or log in to your existing account, please visit this link.

Yes, families may be eligible for a sibling discount if they register more than one of their children. We will knock 20% off of the enrollment cost for additional siblings.

Cancellation requests received more than 72 hours in advance will result in a 100% refund of your enrollment. Cancellation requests received less than 72 hours in advance will result in a 50% refund of your enrollment.

In the event that School’s Out! Programs need to be canceled due to inclement weather (ie a snow day), families will receive a credit for a future School’s Out! program.

As a state-licensed childcare program, there are several forms that are required for children to be in our care. All required enrollment forms are listed in your family’s CampInTouch account and must be completed before the program’s deadline. Campers cannot attend camp without completed forms.

Please note that if your camper has any severe allergies or health needs (asthma, diabetes, etc.), additional forms will need to be submitted to the camp and approed by our program’s Nurse Consultant. Please ensure that these forms are submitted as soon as possible to help our team make sure that everything is set for your camper’s arrival.

We use our CampInTouch system for various programs across the JCC that all utilize different timelines. All of our School’s Out! programs for the 2024-25 season will be listed in 2025 in CampInTouch.

“I can’t tell you how much fun my girls had. They are consistently reporting Camp Shai as the “best part” of their winter break! Looking forward to seeing you soon.”
