We are pleased to announce the appearance of the Matti Friedman at the JCC in Denver, on January 26th. It will be a unique opportunity to engage with one of the most interesting and dynamic personalities in the contemporary Jewish community.

So who is Matti Friedman?

Matti Friedman is currently one of the leading figures in the Israel Press Corp. He is able to understand the complexities of news coverage and reporting in Israel and the Middle East and also recognizes the potential political influence that reporters can exert on Israeli culture and beyond. Controversy has at times resulted from his direct style of reporting—this has not deterred Friedman’s publications which appear regularly in the press worldwide.

Friedman is versatile and the author of two books. His first book, The Aleppo Codex, published in 2012, was critically acclaimed and received several literary prizes including the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature. The book examines the journey of the oldest and most accurate text of the Hebrew Bible over several centuries. The Wall Street Journal referred to the book as:  “A superb work of investigative journalism that reads like a detective thriller.” Friedman’s latest book, Pumpkinflowers, scheduled for publication in the spring of 2016, is a stark account of young IDF soldiers during the Lebanon War stationed in a remote outpost.  The author was among this group of soldiers which makes for a gripping and complex narrative of war.

So, come join us for an evening of perspective and conversation. You won’t be disappointed.
