Hanukkah Celebration and Latke Contest

Sunday, December 3, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
The JCC Denver is excited to welcome you back to our second annual Latkes and Lights event to celebrate Hanukkah. Prepare for those eight crazy nights by playing themed games, snapping pictures at the photo booth, purchasing goodies to gift for Hanukkah, listening to live music, munching on a variety of latkes, voting for your favorite menorah, and much more! This family and community event is for everyone. Bring your partner, family members, children, and neighbors to enjoy in this festival of lights.

Makers Mart

Bring those shekels to purchase all of your Hanukkah gifts at the Makers Mart at Latkes and Lights. Purchase ceramics, prints, paintings, jewelry, stickers, sewn goods, and more. All goods are created by local artists. Shop small and enjoy gifting these one-of-a-kind items to your family members and friends.

Latke Competition!

Latkes and Lights will once again feature a much anticipated Latke Competition! Restaurants and citizens will be in separate categories. Get excited because the best of the best in the Mile High City in Jewish Cuisine are frying up latkes:

Our panel of special judges includes:

Chris Bianchi is a meteorologist at 9NEWS. Chris enjoys a nice bowl of matzo ball soup when he’s not forecasting a snowstorm.

Kristina Vasquez, otherwise known as @denver.foodie on Instagram. Kristina is a food blogger and contributor for 303 magazine with over 19,000 followers.

Ryan Warner, host of Colorado Public Radio’s Colorado Matters. Ryan has been honored by The Associated Press and Westword named Ryan the Best Talk-Radio Host for 2021. Ryan is a regular attendee of JCC Denver programs and when he’s not chasing amazing stories around Colorado, you can often find him enjoying a bagel or a cup of matzo ball soup at one of the many Jewish delis in town.

Steven Woodrow, state representative of House District 2 will be our third and final guest judge. He advocates for affordable housing, gun violence prevention, and the environment.
