Yom Ha’atzmaut

Monday, May 1 and Tuesday, May 2 marked the Hebrew holiday Yom Ha’atzmaut, which celebrates the formal establishment of the State of Israel and the signing of the Israeli Declaration of Independence in Tel Aviv. The original date fell on May 14, 1948, but the holiday is celebrated on the fifth day of the Hebrew month Iyar.
