Israel: Episodic

This program gives Denver Jewish Film Festival audiences a taste of the newest Israeli television and digital content, and a glimpse into the themes and formats of this exciting new medium.

Featuring Betsy Leighton (UnReal Media) and Eric Jewett (CU Denver Film School), and moderated by Claire Taylor (Director of Programming, SeriesFest).

About The New Black (Shababniks) – (Season 1, Episode 1)

The show features a group of four Haredi students who study at a yeshiva in Jerusalem. One of them, Gedalya, is on the straight and narrow, while the other three prefer their Talmud study with a side of hanging out in the park, shopping at the mall, and general goofing off. “Shababniks” is a Hebrew slang word for a Haredi youth who is off the path – but not entirely.
