Preschool Enrichment at JCC Denver FAQ

What is preschool enrichment?

  1. Preschool Enrichment classes are an opportunity for our ELS students and preschool-aged community members to participate in specialty classes.
  2. These classes are designed to provide children (age 3 to 6) with a chance to explore specific interests and topics.

Who runs Preschool Enrichment?

  1. The enrichment classes are a program of the JCC Engagement Department. They are not run through the JCC Early Learning School.
  2. If you need to contact someone about registration or questions, please reach out to the engagement team at engagement@jccdenver.org.

My child attends a different preschool or is not enrolled in preschool but is the right age, can they take part in the classes marked preschool enrichment?

Yes! Your child can take part in classes marked preschool enrichment even if they are not enrolled at the preschool at the JCC. A caregiver will need to bring the student to the lobby to check in with the instructor and stay onsite at the JCC during the class because this is not a licensed program. At the end of class, you will meet your child & their instructor at a pick-up location that will be communicated in a class information email.

Why is there a cost to Preschool Enrichment classes if my child is already signed up for aftercare in the ELS?

  1. Because Preschool Enrichment is not operated by the preschool, your child’s enrollment in aftercare is not factored into the costs of running the enrichment classes. The cost to run the enrichment classes include a specialty instructor (who is typically an expert in their subject matter), an additional engagement staff member to monitor and supervise, additional spaces at the JCC not a part of the preschool, and additional supplies.
  2. Your child’s spot is still being held in the aftercare program while they are attending the enrichment class. The cost to run the licensed aftercare program does not change because your child is in another class.

When is Preschool Enrichment offered?

  1. Preschool enrichment is offered in the Fall, Winter, and Spring engagement session calendar. Fall is typically September through November, Winter is January through March, and Spring is April through May. Preschool Enrichment is not offered in the summer.
  2. Sessions are typically 8 to 10 weeks (about 2 and a half months) long and do not strictly follow the ELS calendar. Always check class descriptions for dates and look at your class information emails for schedule.

What time are the enrichment classes?

Preschool enrichment classes are at 3:20pm to 4:05pm Monday through Thursday.

Can I request classes or topics?

We are always looking for new classes to add to our roster. If you or your child is interested in a certain subject or class topic please reach out and let us know so we can try and find the best instructors and get it added to the registration. Email engagement@jccdenver.org.

What happens if my child misses a class or know they will miss a class?

There is no makeup or pro-rating of cost for personal reasons for missing classes.

What happens if I am late picking up?

Late pickup beyond 10 minutes will incur a $25 fee for each additional 10 minutes past the pickup time. More then 2 late pickups will result in being dropped from the class with no refund or credit.

What happens if preschool enrichment is cancelled?

  1. Occasionally things will happen outside our control (weather, teacher illness, problems with the space, or other issues) causing a class to be cancelled. If a JCC engagement class is cancelled all participants will be emailed the notification. We also try and text or call for any cancellations but cannot guarantee a call or text.
  2. For most sessions, a built-in makeup day is scheduled for cancelled classes. This make-up day is only used if the JCC cancels a class for any reason. This make-up day is not for classes missed because of personal reasons. When a makeup class is not possible a credit will be applied to students accounts to be used for future engagement registration costs. Credits do not apply to Preschool, Camp Shai, or Fitness costs.
