Traditional Camp Shai

(Rising Kindergarten – Grade 6)
The classic summer camp experience!

Each day at Camp Shai, campers enrolled in traditional camp get to experience jam-packed days of activities like drama, music, sports, arts & crafts, and other fun group activities!

Additionally, campers in rising 2nd grade and up will close out their days with one of our most treasured camp activities – ChuggimThese programs are created by our amazing summer staff that allow campers to select their own unique activity each week. Previous chug activities have included capture the flag, Harry Potter wand making, film production, and origami.

Our youngest campers will have an alternate activity to give them a little down time to relax and calm their bodies after a busy day of camp.

Rishonim

First Years | Rising K
Rishonim is designed to meet the needs of those children in transition from preschool to kindergarten. Knowing this will be most campers’ first camp experience, Camp Shai’s Rishonim program gently introduces activities with a built-in recharge time each day.

chaverim

Friends | Rising 1st
Whether they are returning for another awesome summer or starting at Shai for the first time, Chaverim campers get to build long lasting friendships, try new activities, and learn Camp Shai’s traditions. Chaverim campers’ days are filled with arts and crafts, camp songs, team games, swimming, and so much more!

Tsofim

Scouts | Rising 2nd
Our Tsofim campers tend to take the lead in championing Camp Shai’s most important traditions such as singing loudly in Morning Circle and cheering for their counselors during Survivor challenges. Tsofim is also the age at which campers can finally participate in Chuggim and decide which activity they will end each day on.

Giborim

Heroes | Grades 3 – 4
Giborim campers get to experience the full magic of summer camp and spend their days creating art, playing sports, making music, and swimming.

Bonim

Builders | Grades 5 – 6
Bonim campers get the best of both traditional camp and off-site adventures! Our Builders will take part in many of the traditional Camp Shai favorites – swimming, art, sports, music, Teva – plus, exciting new field trip opportunities!

Swim Readiness at Camp Shai

As an added bonus for our Rishonim and Chaverim campers, Camp Shai will be offering group swim readiness lessons as part of our Traditional Camp offerings. During portion of their scheduled swim times, these campers will receive group instruction from the JCC’s Aquatics team to build their swim confidence and practice developing their swim skills.
