Camp is the perfect environment for campers to develop their skills outside of the classroom and build their confidence – and yours too! Your work will make a difference in supporting campers to improve their ability to make and maintain friendships, increase their confidence to try new activities, and create a safe space for everyone to be themselves, campers and staff alike. Being a staff member at camp helps you to gain skills in a concrete, hands-on, and fun way!

Our counselors work directly with campers every day to guide them through summer activities, provide mentorship and support as campers develop their skills, and make sure that campers are having a summer full of fun! Our counselor positions are perfect for individuals that have a passion for camping, and who are interested in working with children of all ages!
Join the Inclusion Team!
Are you passionate about making camp accessible for children of all abilities? Our inclusion staff receive specialized training to work directly with campers who require additional support . Our inclusion positions are perfect for individuals who want to level up their experience working with kids in a more personalized setting. We also need leaders for this program to supervise staff and support our campers . If you think you are right for this position, please let us know!

Do you love a particular subject matter and want to share this passion with others? Our instructors facilitate activities every day for campers in grades kindergarten through grade 6 in an engaging, hands-on learning environment that is fun! Our instructor positions are perfect for individuals who are looking to develop their teaching skills among a variety of grade levels.

Sarah Mackin

Director of Camp Shai
Bio for Campers:
Sarah’s been with Camp Shai since 2021 and looks forward every year to unforgettable summers filled with amazing camp memories. At camp, you can find Sarah walking around campus in a variety of silly costumes with a number of fun camp songs up her sleeve. In fact, you may have confused her last summer with a great white shark, her favorite costume. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading books about history, and spending time with her cat, Commissioner Jim Gordon and dog, Winona Ryder.
Bio for Parents:
Sarah has been working in the summer camp industry since her first job as a Junior Counselor when she was 15 years old. She has many years of experience working at both day camps and residential camps. Most recently, she worked as the Camp Director at a day camp focused on STEM learning in Chicago, IL. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) and a Master’s Degree in Education from Northwestern University (Go Wildcats!).
Shauntay Scott

Bio for Campers:
Shauntay started at Camp Shai in 2025 and is so excited for another summer! She grew up going to camp in the Black Forest and then continued to counselor before becoming a director. Shauntay loves camp games like “Zip Zap Zop” and “Captain’s Coming” as well camp songs, her favorite is “Boom Chicka Boom.” In her free time you can find her at OrangeTheory Fitness, reading, and cheering on the Denver Sports Teams. Shauntay loves Disney so make sure you tell her your favorite character or movie!
Bio for Parents:
Shauntay has been working in the youth programming and youth development field in Denver Non-Profits for almost 10 years; As a Denver native, she grew up going to camp in the Black Forest outside of Colorado Springs. She graduated from Westminster College, in Fulton, MO where she double majored in Sports Management and Community Relations and eagerly returned home after graduation. She has experience in Day Camps and Overnight Camps. Most recently she was the Program Manager of Site Based Mentoring at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado.
Courtney Jacobson

Bio for Campers:
This is Courtney’s seventh summer at Camp Shai, and she has many more under her belt prior to that. Courtney’s favorite parts of camp are Survivor and Sports (especially floor hockey). Her favorite camp song is “Ravioli”. In her free time, Courtney enjoys hanging out with her dogs, hiking, and skiing. She is currently singing all of the morning circle songs on repeat to her 1-year-old daughter to get her ready for Camp Shai 2026!
Bio for Parents:
Courtney is a Denver native, growing up attending JCC Ranch Camp. She caught the “camp bug” early on in life and she can think of no better way to spend the summer! Courtney has a Master’s degree in Social Work and Non-Profit Management and loves working with campers and staff development. Her preferred title (in life) is the Camp Fairy Godmother.
