Camp is the perfect environment for campers to develop their skills outside of the classroom and build their confidence – and yours too! Your work will make a difference in supporting campers improve their ability to make and maintain friendships, increase their confidence to try new activities, and create a safe space for everyone to be themselves, campers and staff alike. Being a staff member at camp helps you to gain the skills you want from an internship in a concrete, hands-on, and fun way!

Our counselors work directly with campers each day to guide them through their summer activities, provide mentorship and support as campers develop their skills, and make sure that campers are having a summer full of fun! Our counselor positions are perfect for individuals that have a passion for camp, and those that are interested in developing their skills working with children of all ages!
Join the Inclusion Team!
Are you passionate about making camp accessible for kids of all abilities? Our inclusion staff receive specialized training to work directly with campers that require additional support to enjoy the camp experience that they deserve. Our inclusion positions are perfect for individuals that want to level up their skills working with kids and getting to know them in a more personalized setting. We also need leaders for this program to supervise staff and support our campers to be included. If you think you have the skillset and experience to give to others, let us know!

Do you love a particular subject area and want to share your passion with kids? Our instructors facilitate activities each day for campers in grades Kindergarten through grade 6 in hands-on learning that is engaging and, most importantly, FUN! Our instructor positions are perfect for individuals that are looking to develop their teaching skills with a variety of grade levels.

Meet the Team
Sarah Jones
Director of Camp Shai
Bio for Campers:
This is Sarah’s second summer at Camp Shai and she is so excited to continue getting to know the community and creating an unforgettable experience for campers. At camp, you can find Sarah walking around campus in a variety of silly costumes with a number of fun camp songs up her sleeve. In fact, you may have confused her last summer with a great white shark, her favorite costume. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading books about history, and spending time with her cat, Commissioner Jim Gordon.
Bio for Parents:
Sarah has been working in the summer camp industry since her first job as a Junior Counselor when she was 15 years old. She has many years of experience working at both day camps and residential camps. Most recently, she worked as the Camp Director at a day camp focused on STEM learning in Chicago, IL. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) and a Master’s Degree in Education from Northwestern University (Go Wildcats!).
Courtney Jacobson
General Manager of Camps & Early Learning School
Bio for Campers:
This is Courtney’s seventh summer at Camp Shai, and she has many more under her belt prior to that. Courtney’s favorite parts of camp are Survivor and Sports (especially floor hockey). Her favorite camp song is “Ravioli”. In her free time, Courtney enjoys hanging out with her dogs, hiking, and skiing. She is currently singing all of the morning circle songs on repeat to her 1-year-old daughter to get her ready for Camp Shai 2026!
Bio for Parents:
Courtney is a Denver native, growing up attending JCC Ranch Camp. She caught the “camp bug” early on in life and she can think of no better way to spend the summer! Courtney has a Master’s degree in Social Work and Non-Profit Management and loves working with campers and staff development. Her preferred title (in life) is the Camp Fairy Godmother.
