With all the benefits of a traditional camp experience, Shai Makers gives our most creative campers more time in the art studio to explore and develop their unique artistic style. Whether they are creating colorful canvases, building sculptures, or exploring mixed media, this program encourages campers to think outside of the box and let their artistic talents shine! SESSION ONE | Adventures on the Shai Seas
Apprentice Makers (Rising 1st – 2nd) | Pirate Playmakers
Ahoy, mateys! Camp Shai’s Pirate Playmakers invites campers to set sail on a sea of creativity! Campers will design their own pirate-inspired puppets and costumes, bringing swashbuckling characters and high-seas adventures to life through art and imagination!
Master Makers (Rising 3rd – 6th) | Mermaids & Monsters
Set sail on a creative adventure with Camp Shai’s Mermaids & Monsters! Campers will explore the mysteries of the ocean through ceramics, sculpting everything from elegant mermaids to fantastical sea monsters. Using hand-building and glazing techniques, each camper will craft detailed, imaginative creations worthy of any underwater legend.
SESSION TWO | Shai Spy
Apprentice Makers (Rising 1st – 2nd) | Clay Sleuths
In Clay Sleuths, Camp Shai campers become artists on a mission! Through hands-on ceramics projects, they’ll learn how to mold, shape, and decorate their own clay creations while exploring the mysteries of art and design.
Master Makers (Rising 3rd – 6th) | I Spy: Recycled Art
Camp Shai’s I Spy: Recycled Art challenges campers to turn everyday materials into extraordinary works of art! Using recycled and found objects, campers will design their own creations filled with hidden details, secret surprises, and plenty of imagination! It’s part art lab, part mystery – where creativity is always in plain sight (if you can spot it)!
Specialty Makers (Rising 3rd – 6th) | Secret Agent Lab
Camp Shai’s I Spy: Recycled Art challenges campers to turn everyday materials into extraordinary works of art! Apprentice Makers (Rising 1st – 2nd) | Prehistoric Painting
Travel back in time with Camp Shai’s Prehistoric Painting! Campers will explore the world of dinosaurs and ancient landscapes through paint, color, and texture. From dino tracks to volcanic skies, campers will create bold, imaginative artworks inspired by the ages of the dinosaurs!
Master Makers (Rising 3rd – 6th) | Fossilized in Clay
Unearth your inner artist at Camp Shai’s Fossilized in Clay! Over two weeks, campers will become paleontologists of the art world—digging, sculpting, and designing their very own fossil-inspired ceramic creations. Get ready to make some dino-mite art!
Specialty Makers (Rising 1st – 2nd) | Underground Explorers
Young archaeologists and paleontologists, get ready to dig in! Campers uncover the history of dinosaurs, ancient civilizations, and long-lost artifacts through hands-on excavation projects and real-life mystery solving. They’ll learn how scientists unearth and study the past while examining fossils, pottery shards, bone fragments, amber deposits, and more. This program invites campers to explore the hidden stories buried beneath our feet!
SESSION FOUR: Shai-Fi Adventure
Apprentice Makers (Rising 1st – 2nd) | Cosmic Creations
Step into the future with Camp Shai’s Holographic Creatures! Campers will explore color, light, and texture as they design imaginative creatures and aliens that shimmer, shine, and shift with every angle. Using a mix of art materials and iridescent effects, campers will bring their futuristic creations to life in brilliant, otherworldly style!
Master Makers (Rising 3rd – 6th) | Holographic Creatures
In this whimsical session, campers will learn sewing techniques and fashion design skills as they create their own costumes and accessories inspired by fairy tales and enchanted forests. With hands-on instruction from our skilled instructor, campers will explore the art of garment construction, fabric selection, and embellishment. By the end of the session, each camper will have developed both their sewing skills and their eye for design while bringing their fairy tale visions to life!
Specialty Makers (Rising 3rd – 6th) | Wheel Pottery
Get ready to get messy and creative! In this hands-on pottery program, campers learn how to throw clay on the wheel, shape their own bowls and cups, and explore fun glazing techniques. Whether they’re brand new to pottery or already love working with clay, campers will build confidence, express their creativity, and take home their very own fired pieces. Perfect for artists who love to spin, splash, and create!
SESSION FIVE: Lights, Camera, Shai!
Apprentice Makers (Rising 1st – 2nd) | Clay on Camera
Step into the spotlight with Camp Shai’s Clay on Camera! Rising 1st–2nd graders will bring the magic of movies to life by sculpting fun characters for their own Claymation project! Each project lets campers imagine, create, and star in their very own production!
Master Makers (Rising 3rd – 6th) | Hollywood Clayworks
Welcome to the set of Hollywood Clayworks at Camp Shai! Campers will dive into the art of ceramics by designing detailed clay characters and special props for their very own Claymation! From concept to finished masterpiece, campers will experience the thrill of working in their very own studio and prepare for a production of their own!
