We will be offering morning extended care (Sunrise Care) and afternoon extended care (Sunset Care) as an additional service for interested families. Sunrise Care will run from 7:30 – 9:00 am and is $80/week (or $20/day). Sunset Care will run from 3:30 – 5:30 pm and is $160/week (or $40/day). We will be staggering drop-off and pick-up times for the 2022 summer. Drop off for the summer will run from 8:30am-9:00am each morning and pickup will run from 3:15pm-3:45pm. Families will receive additional information regarding drop off and pick up times before the start of each session. Camp Shai focuses on universal human values (middot) with a Jewish lens. We embrace everyone who wants to be a part of our community. We welcome campers of all backgrounds. If you like games, being outdoors, and having the best summer ever, Camp Shai is the place for you.
In Hebrew, Middot translates to ‘values’. Camp Shai focuses on the values of kindness, community, respect, and good sportsmanship. In fact, these values permeate every aspect of the camp from the staff to the campers to the activities.
Each group will swim once a week. On other days, groups may be playing some water games or participate in activities where they might get wet. It is always a good idea to pack a swimsuit and towel (and an extra pair of clothes for our first-time campers).
Camp Shai does not provide meals or snacks for campers. Families should plan to pack two snacks (morning and afternoon) and a lunch for their camper(s) each day. On Fridays, we do provide challah for campers during our all-camp Shabbat celebration.
Unfortunately, it can be difficult to predict the likelihood of spaces becoming available for programs. There are limitations to the number of campers we can accommodate in the physical spaces that we have available. That being said, camp spots might become available in the event that an enrolled family cancels or if we are able to bring on additional staff to support those changes. While it is our hope that we can accommodate as many campers as possible, we also want to ensure that the camp continues to be a safe environment for everyone.
If a space opens up in your camper’s preferred program, you will first be notified via email. Our registrar will follow up with a phone call to make sure that you are still interested in enrolling in that particular session. Our registrar will not charge you for that session until she has confirmed with you directly that you are still interested. If we do not receive a response from you after multiple attempts via phone and email, we will move to the next camper on the waitlist and you will lose your spot.
Our team does not have the capacity to provide regular updates about where a camper is on the waitlist but we will be closing registration once they have reached a waitlist of 12 campers.
