Camps ShaiHero

UPDATE (June 11, 2020): A few spots have opened up and we are now accepting additional applications for Camp Shai’s Pod Camp at this time. Please contact Daniel Siegel via email if you are interested in enrolling.

In light of COVID-19, Camp Shai is shifting its model for this summer to prioritize health and wellness while still maximizing the fun camp has to offer. Camp Shai’s Pod Model is an action-packed session of activities. We are continually following CDC, American Camping Association, and Colorado Department of Health and Human Services guidelines and updating Camp Shai operations as this information is available. Camp Shai’s ability to open this summer depends on the coming guidelines to be issued by Governor Polis surrounding the operations of summer camp.

How Pods Work

Pods will hold 8 campers of mixed ages with 2 staff per pod. This group will remain the same for the duration of the session. To minimize contact points, families will be required to have siblings in the same pod.

  • Open Pods: Open Pods will group campers together with family members and other campers who have enrolled. We will do our best to ensure your camper is placed in appropriate pods by using answers from the supplemental application and considering age-appropriate pairings.
  • Requested PodsWe will take Pod requests for your families and friends that can be comprised of up to 8 campers. We will do our best to accommodate your request. If you have a pod of less than 8 campers, you will be responsible for making up the difference in tuition.

Each Pod will have a classroom of their own with regularly scheduled camp activities using a blended approach of in-person facilitation and Zoom facilitation (with counselors’ help to make it fun and engaging for all ages). Pods will have individual activity kits that will be sanitized each day. They will also have regular time outdoors with activities such as Sports, Teva (nature) and Outdoor Play.

*Activities are subject to change as needed. If swimming is permitted and we are safely able to swim, we will include this in weekly activities. *

COVID-19 Precautions

Beyond the change in program structure, as required by Colorado Department of Health and Human services, Camp Shai will be taking additional measures to protect the health and wellness of our campers, staff, and families. These will include social distancing, staggered drop-off and pick-up times, daily screenings of campers and families, regular handwashing, consistent face mask wearing by all staff and campers, and slight adjustment of camp hours to allow additional time for cleaningIn order to mitigate additional risk due to COVID-19 for Summer 2020, Camp Shai will not be providing snack to campers with the exception of challah and grapes on FridaysFinally, Camp Shai Staff will be conducting increased cleaning and sanitizing between days and sessions.
