Current Events & Schmooze
Led by community members, Current Events & Shmooze is a weekly, informal gathering where folks gather to engage in relevant, timely discussions on books, politics, climate change, music, and so much more. All political backgrounds are welcome. Come join us and shmooze with folks during and after. Coffee included! When we have a presenter, the gathering shifts to a presentation, with a talk-back to follow.
Community Table Lunch Program
Meet interesting people, laugh, and enjoy a hot kosher-style lunch at the JCC Denver. The JFS Community Table lunch program is free to participants over 60 with a $2.50 suggested donation. The menu changes daily, and all faiths are welcome to join. New participants are encouraged to stop by, too, and create connections over lunch!
Senior Book Club
Are you an avid reader? Join the Senior Book Club, a group that reads a selected novel and meets once a month to analyze, debate, and draw connections about the book. Post-discussion, meet with the author of the novel via Zoom to get the answers to your questions. We look forward to discussing literature with you!
Monthly Bingo
Calling all seniors! Join us each month for a lively game of bingo at the JCC Denver. We’ll provide the room, the prizes, and the fun — all you need to bring is your enthusiasm and desire for community. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or new to the game, everyone is welcome.
Mahjong Private Parties
Do you want to learn mahjong in the comfort of your own home with your closest friends? The JCC Denver brings the tiles, tables, and teaching—you bring the snacks, wine, and your favorite people.
Young Adult Mahj Play at the J
The JCC is happy to offer recreational space for existing mahjong players looking to grow their young adult mahjong community. Bring your own sets, mahjong cards, and snacks. We will provide the space and tables! We hope you enjoy connecting with other young adult mahj players.
Beginning Mahjong
Have you been curious about learning how to play Mahjong, or interested in brushing up on your skills? Here’s your chance to see what the appeal is and has been for so many generations. This multi-week course will start you from the beginning. You’ll learn to recognize the tiles and know their names, learn how the passing proceeds, and how to read the card.
Mahj Play at the J
The JCC is happy to offer recreational space for mahjong players who have already taken the Beginners class or have significant experience.
Intermediate Mahjong
You’ve learned the basic mahjong skills and are ready to take it to the next level. Join us at the JCC for a 3-week course where you will brush up on your beginner skills and continue to build on them by developing offensive and defensive strategies.
Shalom Club (50+) Programming Committee
