New Years is synonymous with fresh goals set against the backdrop of colorful sparklers and fizzy champagne. It represents future planning and reflection. It sparks questions like, “How do I want my life to look this year? How do I want to spend my time? With whom and where?” To start of your 2026 on the right foot, join the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center to meet your health-focused goals amongst friends.

Carla Witt has been a fitness member with the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center for thirty years. She says that the JCC Denver is “a place to get a workout in and build community. Getting to exercise with friends is so much more fun!” Carla is a workout-aholic, attending classes or swimming in the J gym every day of the week. She doesn’t discriminate when it comes to class diversity, either, taking everything under the sun from yoga and Pilates to STEP and body pump.

Although Carla’s motivation to stay in shape is year-round, she explains there are plenty of benefits that encouraged her to participate in the Fall Fitness challenge. This competition encouraged fitness members to take twenty classes in thirty days. “I love having a goal to work towards. Plus, I earned three guest passes for completing it. That was a big motivator,” Carla shares. During the holiday months, overindulgence is ever present. The Fall Fitness challenge was one way that the JCC Aquatics and Fitness Center helps community members remain accountable while exploring the wide range of group fitness classes. Carla explains, “I was away for a week of the challenge, so I had to double up my exercise for a few days. It kicked my butt a little bit! I maintain a baseline fitness, but these challenges take it to the next level.”

In addition to setting challenges and offering engaging classes, the JCC Denver Aquatics, Fitness and Tennis Center is one of the places that will help you build your thriving and robust community. “I love to start my day with a workout class at the JCC…even on the weekends. It’s good for my mind and puts me in a good mood.  It’s like a cup of coffee! I work from home, so it’s also my social outlet. There is a lot of care for the community members and the opportunity for connection,” Carla adds.
