There are certain productions that remain enduring with every iteration, and Charlotte’s Web is no exception. Starting this month, Denver Children’s Theatre in the Mizel Arts and Culture Center will be performing Joseph Robinette’s adaptation of E.B. White’s beloved book, Charlotte’s Web, with school tours, public performances, and more. Charlotte’s Web is a beloved classic that addresses universal themes like friendship, love, kindness, and sacrifice, and appeals to all ages with an educational overtone.

Looking back at last year’s “Tomás and the Library Lady” from Denver Children’s Theatre! Such an unforgettable show!
“We are focusing on a story that deals with grief, which is often not spoken about,” remarks Mizel Arts and Culture Center Program Director, Tim Campbell. “A lot of learning moments are being presented in a digestible manner for younger audiences,” he adds of the 45-minute show’s significance. “It teaches children how to empathize and interact with different personalities, which they will eventually encounter as adults.” Besides celebrating diversity with a heavily multicultural and gender-inclusive cast, the show’s fully realized experience features expressive costumes, a full set, and an opportunity for attending schools to experience talkbacks and stage tours. Multiple photograph opportunities will be stationed throughout the lobby for children to pose with, for an added bit of fun.
Mizel Arts and Culture Center is proud to provide these performances, which “engage children in a way of learning that differs from a typical classroom experience,” Tim says of theatre’s didactic nature. Denver Children’s Theatre will be hosting performances for visiting schools February 20 – 28 and taking the show on the road for schools that cannot secure busing March 3 – 14. Public Performances will resume March 2, 9, and 16 in the Elaine Wolf Theatre, with family 4– packs available as well as adult and youth tickets.
“A lot of families are excited for this show because they grew up reading it and now can take their kids to this play,” explains Tim. “It engages children of all ages because there is a nostalgia for it as well,” he adds. Denver Children’s Theatre is made possible thanks to Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).
