Last month, we tragically lost a beloved member of our JCC Fitness Community, Alex Pinchinat. Alex left an unforgettable impact on every person he met and interacted with, constantly bringing positive energy to the fitness center and a portable speaker pumping out the best in rap and hip-hop. We invite you to join us for a memorial in his honor on November 19 at 4:00 pm in the JCC Group Excercise Studio. We’ll gather and exchange stories of Alex’s impact on our lives, a bright soul who was taken too soon.

AlexJCC member Josh Lazaroff trained with Alex for close to 4 years. He says that “Alex was a source of strength during some personally difficult times.” And “he embodied a healthy masculine energy, [one] of confidence, kindness, and always looking out for everyone, doing his best to make them feel welcome and included.” During Alex’s four years with the JCC, he created a community of clients who shared lighthearted laughs, took an interest in one another’s lives, and actively listened. “Alex was a top-notch trainer with a bumping playlist that always made me want to work harder…[but] his true contribution to the J and myself was much more [than that.] I will miss my friend,” Josh concludes.

It didn’t matter whether he was training a seasoned athlete or teaching a 12-year old how to properly squat, Alex brought the same enthusiasm and attentiveness to every client. Beyond that, Alex befriended everyone who crossed paths with him. Russell Campbell, another one of Alex’s clients of over a year, says that when he thinks of Alex, “two words come to mind: ‘consistently cheerful.’ Alex was a great trainer, but…it was [also] spending time catching up with a friend…he epitomized the golden rule.”

Allison Laevey, who trained with Alex twice weekly for over 3 years, conveys how “Alex was an amazing human whose light made everyone feel warm…he knew what I was capable of and made me stronger. He was never judgmental or made you feel foolish.”

Fitness Manager Ben Davis remembers Alex being one of the first fitness trainers he hired, sharing, “I watched him grow and develop. I’ll miss the personal conversations and our time outside of the gym, too. I lost a trainer, but also a friend.”

Together, let’s remember Alex, and embody the virtues he inspired in each and every one of us.
