How to “Fall” in Love with the JCC

Denver’s temperatures may still be rising, but at the JCC, we’re already planning for autumn!

Registration for fall classes and programs opened to the public on July 28 and we’re thrilled to see how many of our community members have already signed up. Whether you’ve already registered, or even if you’re holding out to see what your schedule looks like, here’s a quick breakdown of what you can expect from the J this fall.

Classes – New and Old

Fall is your time to get creative! The Fine Arts and Ceramics departments have gone above and beyond to curate a multitude of new classes for your enjoyment. Watercolor and Painting classes give you the chance to explore color and texture, and two new fiber arts classes – focusing on the process of dying silk and other types of fabric – offer a whole new perspective on creating.

For some other tactile-focused classes, try out Introduction to Glaze Chemistry class, or sign up for this two-day ceramics workshop under the guidance of celebrated Ceramist, Peter Karner.

Artistic kiddos can get their hands dirty in Clay Kids: Fall Harvest Handbuilding, and best of all, parents won’t have to handle any of the clean up!

Beyond arts and crafts, you can sign your little one up for Soccer Shots or Tennis Preschool Enrichment, Toddler Dance, Signing Smart, and so much more!

Events

With the High Holidays steadily approaching, we have plans in place for celebrations of all kinds! Join us on September 28 while we decorate our community Sukkah, indulge in delicious home-made nosh, and schmooze with friends and family!

You’ll want to bring your J game to our annual Todah celebration (on October 28), which promises to be an evening of play, laughter, dancing, and all-around fun. Keep your eyes peeled for an invitation coming soon!

Some other programs to keep in mind include Kavod on the Road, which has a thought-provoking and inspiring fall line-up; Denver Explorers, for a chance to experience Denver in a new and exciting way; and don’t miss the chance to try your hand at baking challah or babka in our Jewish baking classes!

Fitness

Although the much-loved Community Workout in the Park series needed a few rest days in August, we’ll be revitalizing the event starting September 9, at 10:00 am. Keep your ear to the ground (child’s pose is great for this) for more information to come.

Mark your calendar for October 21, for a super-secret community fitness event! Details to come, but we promise you won’t want to miss this chance to move at the J!
