The Countdown to Camp Starts Now!

The weeks leading up to camp seem to tumble over themselves as staff begin to arrive and campers count down the days for what is, for many, the best few weeks of their year. With summer 2023 rapidly approaching, you can practically taste the excited, and sometimes nervous, anticipation. As suitcases are packed, cabins are prepped, and the soul of camp comes back to life, we want to offer you some advice for the small, yet important, things to remember while you’re at camp.

Jump in. Camp is not a spectator sport. You may feel silly, and you may feel scared, but jump in anyway. Say yes to new opportunities. Explore new friendships. Be silly. Surprise yourself by getting out of your comfort zone. You get as much out of camp as you’re willing to put into it. No matter how big and scary the jump might seem, we’ll be there to catch you.

Slow down. Before you know it, you’ll be repacking your bags and saying your goodbyes, so slow down and enjoy everything. Let yourself savor every moment. Laugh loudly, and love largely. Don’t be afraid to stop and breathe in the world around you. Even the small moments can create big memories.

Drink lots of water and put on lots of sunscreen. Seriously. Enjoying camp to the fullest is only possible if you take care of yourself. Staying hydrated and protected from the sun are quite possibly the most important things you can do to keep yourself healthy and happy.

The next blog we write will be composed at camp, where we all dream of being. We absolutely cannot wait to welcome you to the Ranch Camp family; whether it’s the first time, the sixth time, or the eighteenth time, we’re mighty glad you’re here! We’ll send the air reverberating with a mighty cheer! We’ll sing you in, we’ll sing you out, we’ll raise a mighty shout. Hail, hail, the gang’s all here, so welcome to JCC! Skip around the room, skip around the room, skip, skip, skip!
