Latkes! Lights! City Cast Denver! Oh My!

For all you Pod-heads out there, we’re excited to announce that the JCC was recently featured in City Cast Denver, a local podcast aimed at keeping Denverites up-to-date with goings on around our favorite city. For those of you who attended the December 21 Latkes and Lights celebration, you may have seen the City Cast team interviewing attendees and having a taste of some award-winning latkes!

From gleaning informative latke history from JCC’s own Daniel Seigel, to interviewing latke-loving toddlers, City Cast Denver shone light on the community-building and celebratory atmosphere of the event. What a way to kick off the Hanukkah season!

Following the Latkes and Lights event, the JCC had a celebratory week jam-packed with Hanukkah-themed yoga, story readings with ELS students, schmoozing with JCC leadership, and of course, the nightly lighting of the hanukkiah. To everyone who attended, and our partners who helped make these events possible, we thank you for your support!

Whether you were at Latkes and Lights to try the treats yourself (barbecue latkes? Who would have thought!), or missed the event but still want to know who won the latke contest, don’t hesitate to cue up the episode of City Cast Denver. You can find it on Spotify, Apple podcasts, or City Cast Denver’s web page

Still looking for reasons to listen? Inspiration for out-of-this-world delicious latke toppings; beet compote with chive and crème fraiche? Yes please! Not to mention, the music for the episode was provided by Carly Coons, of JEWISHcolorado’s Jewish Explorers, and friend of the JCC. Well done, Carly!

Thank you to Rosenberg’s Bagels and Delicatessen, Safta Restaurant, and Zaidy’s Deli & Bakery for their latke donations, and for participating in the competition. To our partners in this event – Shwayder Camp, Ramah in the Rockies, and JEWISHcolorado with PJ Library – thank you for your collaboration!
