Ready to win big?

This year’s 17th Annual Don Kaufmann Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament will take place on December 1 — just around the corner!

This event attracts both novice and veteran players who put their skill and luck to the test in order to claim ultimate victory (and bragging rights). As some may have already expected, there will be a familiar face at this year’s tournament — three-time winner of the Don Kaufmann Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament…

Our very own Mike Kboudi!

Mr. Kboudi has been a member of our Board for eight years and his presence enriches both our center and community. When asked about the JCC Denver and his long-standing connection to it, Mike had this to say:

“I am passionate about the JCC as a central place for cultural Judaism and connection to the community through sports, organization, and learning.”

You may recognize him from this video, a homemade marketing piece we assembled for the 16th Annual Don Kaufmann Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament (that, of course, was canceled due to COVID-19).

Nevertheless, that video should give you a good idea of who you’ll be up against at this year’s tournament. Feeling intimidated yet?

In addition to witnessing Mike’s robust range of poker skills, tournament attendees will help us raise money for our children’s programs here at the J — a cause that was always near and dear to the tournament’s namesake, Don Kaufmann.

A one-time JCC Board President and longtime board member, Mr. Kaufmann passed away in 2015. He was one of the original forces behind this legendary poker tournament and we’re honored to share his memory with our community. The Kaufmann and Sidell families have, once again, graciously committed to be the presenting sponsors for this event.

Don’s ability to lend a helping hand, as his family said, touched so many lives within our community, and with this event, his legacy continues to live on.

Mike Kboudi, a friend of Don Kaufmann, was sure to emphasize the fun-natured, yet philanthropic, atmosphere of this event.

“It’s a great time to get together, play some cards, be around great people, and support the JCC all at the same time.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Mike. We look forward to giving you a run for your money at the 17th Annual Don Kaufmann Hold ‘Em Tournament on December 1!
