What’s going on at the J-CC Ranch? The answer…what’s not going on!
What a session, what a week, and what an amazing way to kick off the Summer 2022 JCC Ranch Camp experience! As we wind down into our second soul-filling Shabbat, the team at Ranch Camp couldn’t be more thrilled with the start of another fantastic summer.
It has been a great week watching our camper’s step outside their comfort zones. The Kaleidoscope Talent Show was a high-spirited event featuring ‘Camper Shark Tank’ sales pitches, a performance of ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno,’ and even a camp dog doing wild tricks on stage.
This past Thursday was the first of the three camper Maccabiah-style games for 2022. An over-the-top afternoon resulted in the Green Team taking the cake (quite literally for some of the challenges) at the end of the day. It was an awesome experience that culminated with the Mac-o-Peel, a cross-campus relay race that starts at the front gate of the camp and finishes all the way up the hill at Niven Field.
Weeks like this are a special time at camp. The competition and excitement are palpable as our camper’s cheer and chant for their teams to win, but at the end of the day when they celebrate with a color powder party, everybody quickly comes together again. The strong friendships that are formed make everybody realize that their teams don’t really matter too much.
The wrap-up of this session serves as an important reminder that no matter who we are, what we look like, how we identify, or where we come from, we really are just one big family.
