This week’s “In The Loup” provides a program update from the JCC Executive Team.

Dear JCC Community,

We are pleased to report that the JCC is open and running full speed ahead. The month of June has started off with a bang – with membership numbers looking strong and continuing to grow.

We are officially one month in since our re-opening of the Fitness & Aquatics Center. There have and continue to be a few hiccups along the way, but the overall feedback has been positive and our all-new Fitness Team continues to learn and improve each day. For those who have experienced anything other than the top-notch customer service we strive for, please contact Membership via email so we can document your issue and address your feedback at our earliest convenience. Please note that our staff throughout the building are working tirelessly to ensure each time you walk into the J you walk out smiling. All we ask is to please be kind and respectful to our staff if you do run into any issues.

While things in the Fitness & Aquatics Center are picking up – with plans to re-open the Shvitz, steam rooms, and hot tubs soon – the rest of the J is continuing to provide our traditional summer programming.

The ELS began its’ summer session and continues to foster the growth of each child’s learning style by adapting curriculum to best serve each student.

Camp Shai and Ranch Camp, both at over 95% capacity, began on Monday (June 7). Wolf Theatre Academy begins July 6, with one session focused on acting auditions and another on musical theatre. Each of these programs continues to provide our campers and students the perfect environment to develop lasting relationships with friends and adults.

There is one remaining program in our Neustadt JAAMM Festival. Plan to attend (virtually) the event on Thursday, June 17, featuring Jo Ivester who authored “Once a Girl, Always A Boy” which is a family memoir of the journey of a transgender.

Our summer family programs continue to attract the cutest little children and their parents. These programs are highlighted by our new and innovative Practice Preschool program which has launched with rave reviews and a new session beginning June 15.

And then comes PRIDE weekend

The JCC is working in conjunction with The Center on Colfax to act as a weekend hub from June 25 – 27. We have planned a PRIDE Shabbat, a weekend long outdoor festival in our parking lot, a Saturday evening pool party, and an original performance from the teens at Rainbow Alley in the Elaine Wolf Theatre. The JCC is proud to be a part of this event and appreciative of all of the community support we have received (be sure to check out the list of our sponsors).

It’s hard to believe that a year ago, the JCC was closed and quiet. We are thoroughly enjoying the energy in the hallways and the outdoor spaces. They are alive with activities for all ages and our center has returned to serving as a gathering place for our entire community.

We hope you will join us at the J this summer.

Sincerely,

JCC Executive Team
