Dear JCC Community,

In my new role as the Director of Ranch Camp, much of my time has been spent parsing, reviewing, strategizing, and putting into action the plans that will keep our campers, staff, parents, and community safe during the upcoming summer session. With 400 campers and 400 acres located in the Black Forest of Colorado covered with rolling hills and miles of trails, we are so excited to get our summer 2021 session underway. This will be a  summer for building upon the rich history, traditions, and magic that keeps so many coming back, but also a new dawn for so many of us as we begin to take steps back to what is our new normal.

Our campers will experience all of the magic that is Ranch Camp along with some exciting new features. They will test their limits on a brand new ropes course and will have some beautiful new facilities (that include upgraded lavatories and showers) to use in addition to enjoying hiking, adventure trips, zip lines, and the fun of being with their friends.

Our counselors are our secret ingredient that makes camp extra special. They make a significant impact on the lives of the kids that they lead, befriend, and support and may be the most powerful part of the camp experience. This year, we have brand new staff housing available in the form of Container Houses that are customized to house our staff comfortably. We are excited to begin using our new staff housing.

The past year has taken a toll on all of us, however, the bedrock of Ranch Camp remains the same. It is a place that allows young people to be themselves and experience a sense of love and belonging away from their devices. Ultimately, we hope they will have the opportunity to uncover the best of themselves.

We must continue to recognize and be thankful for, the levels of boundless inclusion, welcoming, and friendship that permeate our organization and our programs. Our JCC is without question, the most inviting and caring community in which I have worked. For both members and staff, it is a place where all are challenged to be the best versions of themselves as they best see fit.

Shabbat Shalom, have a great Pesach and enjoy your gefilte fish.
