We caught up with Ron recently to learn more about his role as our new Chief Financial Officer, his passion for the JCC and the community, and what he likes to do for fun. Read on to learn more about him!

What is one part of your new role that you are most excited about?
Being able to contribute to the Jewish community in a professional role.

Why did you choose to work in the non-profit world, and more specifically in the Jewish Community sector?
For most of the past 16 years I have worked in the non-profit sector, wanting to give back to the community.  The fondest times of my younger life was being a summer camp counselor (and it’s where I met my wife, Mimi).  I may be too old to do that anymore, but I can still work at the J.

How do you choose to build your own community?
I come from a large, close family (I am the middle of 5 kids) spread out across the US and Israel.  We have 15 nieces and nephews (and 3 spouses), 5 grandnephews, and a grandchild on the way (our first).  Together we all share our strong Jewish identity.

What is one fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
I have a plate and 10 screws in my leg from a skiing accident 18 years ago.  And yes, I still love to ski.

Which literary character are you most like?
I’ll go with Robert Langdon from the Da Vinci Code – I like to read every plaque.

Which 3 words would those closest to you use to describe you?
Curious, Calm, positive.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to see the Northern Lights.  It seems to be as close to the mysteries of the universe as we can go.
