We caught up with Stephanie recently to learn more about her role as our new Chief Operating Officer, her passion for the JCC and the community, and what she likes to do for fun. Read on to learn more about her!
What will you be responsible for in your new role?
As COO, I will be overseeing all JCC operations including School, Camps, Fitness, Engagement, Arts & Culture, and Facilities. This includes balancing the needs of the day-to-day with the execution of the long-term vision. My goal as a member of the executive leadership team is to steward and grow our inclusive community for years and generations to come.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
I’m excited to join such a strong community. We have spectacular facilities, great programs, and even more great ideas! I’m eager to expand our reach and to bring what we already offer to a wider audience.
What programs have you participated in at the JCC previously?
I am a JCC fitness member and am looking forward to returning to in-person fitness classes. My programming experience with the J started with the new parents programming including Jewish Baby University and Fourth Trimester Café. Our little one is now loving her time in the Early Learning School.
Tell us one thing you would like the community to know about you.
Building community is not just my career choice; it’s my passion. From my earliest jobs as a camp counselor and preschool teacher’s aide to my more recent positions overseeing senior-living facilities, my favorite part of my day has always been the warm interactions with my team and the communities that we built. While I may have to spend some of my time looking at spreadsheets as COO, I’d much rather be learning from, laughing with, and getting to know you, the community.
How do you spend your spare time?
For the past 13 years, I have been volunteering for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I also love a good hike with my dog, good food with friends and family, or just curling up on the couch with a hot cup of coffee and the Sunday crossword puzzle.
