Forged in a fitness center or on the playing field, in the steam room or the classroom, Jewish bonds of friendship and community can happen simultaneously between and among organizations.

This is especially true for several members of the Jewish community who have been involved with both the JCC Denver and the community’s Jewish day school.

Dana Friedman is not only a regular instructor for the JCC’s basic yoga class, she is also a teacher in the Upper Division at Denver Jewish Jewish Day School. Another Denver JDS teacher, long-time science instructor Melanie Knowles, can remember teaching her (then) RMHA (Rocky Mountain Hebrew Academy) students at the JCC before the school re-located to southeast Denver, and Shelley Krovitz, now a Denver JDS grandparent, once served on the board of the JCC.

Dana and her husband Brian Friedman, Melanie Knowles, and Shelley Krovitz will all be honored by Denver Jewish Day School at its annual dinner on Thursday, March 14 at 5:30 pm at the Grand Hyatt. There also will be a special performance by Denver JDS alumni Human Fountains, as seen on NBC’s America’s Got Talent (and in the halls of Denver JDS).
