What is a Mad Relay, you say?

It’s a crazy, goofy, silly, wacky fun relay that includes props, costumes, dive toys, board games, and more–with proceeds going directly to the Make-a-Wish  to help support children in their community who are battling a life-threatening medical condition.

For Mad Relay, our swim teams create their own relay teams of four people (friends and family are welcome to participate!). Each team must raise a minimum of $25 before the event in order to participate—the amount raised by each team is the starting amount in their ‘bank’. Teams compete against each other in a series of Mad Relay events, and spectators and participants may bet on their favorite team—this money is added to their team’s bank only if their team wins the relay. At the end of the day, the team with the most money will win a special prize and the opportunity to make Sara’s wish come true.

Mad Relay

On Sunday, June 4, the JCC Sea Turtles recreational & competitive swim teams joined forces for a cause at our second annual Mad Relay Fundraiser. Robert Kahn, a longtime volunteer for Make-A-Wish Colorado, gave a great, inspiring speech to kick off the exciting events of the day.

Our swimmers had the opportunity to create their own relay teams that included parents, siblings, and friends for a day of fun! Relay teams made-up goofy names like ‘The Fearsome Four’ and ‘The Dynamic Dolphins’ and worked to raise money before the special event. Relay teams young and old were challenged to mad, crazy, silly relays.
