Chaverim (Friends)
Grades K–6 (all campers must be 5 years old by their first day of camp)
Cost: $790/session
Under the supervision of caring counselors, Chaverim campers enjoy a traditional day camp experience that includes swimming, GaGa, arts and crafts, singing, sports, science projects, field trips and activities based on our Judaic curriculum. Campers spend the day in small, closely supervised groups that promote new friendships. All Chaverim campers swim in the Chotin Family Outdoor Pool four days a week, and younger Chaverim campers also enjoy weekly swim lessons. One or more times a week, Chaverim campers venture afield to cool destinations that include aquatic parks like Pirates Cove and The Splash at Fossil Trace; bowling and miniature golf; the J–CC Ranch Camp; Jungle Quest; and many more fun adventures. Our older Chaverim campers enjoy field trips to destinations including "The Spot" Boldering Gym, a Colorado Rockies Game, Fish 'N Farm and much more. Equally cool in-camp visitors bring activities ranging from the Israel Scouts to Dance Trax, enhancing every camper's summer kef (fun). For more information, please call (303) 316-6392.
On The Road (OTR)
Grades 6–9
Cost: $825/session
On the Road is geared to the interests of older kids, who meet at camp in the morning to take off for adventures. Activities like overnight camping trips and white-water rafting combine teamwork and independence while offering campers personal challenges. Campers make lifetime friendships as they enjoy adventures from team-building at “The Spot” Bouldering Gym in Boulder to a trip to the J–CC Ranch Camp, from swimming at the JCC to swim trips at Pirates Cove and Apex, from hiking in the Garden of the Gods to learning how they can make a difference in their community. This year, campers enjoy perennial favorites that include trips to Water World, Six Flags, hiking and ropes courses, along with tons of new stuff. Overnights include river rafting, horseback riding and an overnight designed by current and former On The Road campers and staff. Although adventures often draw campers away from the JCC Campus, the heart of OTR is still with Camp Shai. OTR campers join Camp Shai for swimming, the Maccabi Games, incamp theme days and every Friday to welcome Shabbat. For more information, please call (303) 316-6392.
Counselor in Training (CIT)
Grades 8–9
Cost: $400/session
The Counselor in Training program is a hands-on learning experience designed to prepare older children to become future camp counselors. CITs serve as assistants in cabin groups and as mentors throughout Camp Shai. Members of this elite group also enjoy specialized training throughout the summer that has been designed to improve their skills and give them the tools necessary to be an effective counselor. In order to become a CIT, all applicants must fill out a Counselor In Training application and meet with the CIT director for an interview. This camp requires a three-week commitment and fulfills community service requirements at many schools. For more information, please call (303) 316-6392.
