WELCOME TO SUMMER 2008!
One of the best parts of summer at the JCC, Mizel Arts & Culture Center (MACC) and the Denver Center for Jewish Education (DCJE) is that we offer so many different camps for children two years old through high school. The hard part can be navigating through all of the camp options and filling out all of the required forms and paperwork. That's where Camp Central comes in. The goal of Camp Central is to make finding a camp at the JCC, the MACC or DCJE much simpler. We will be your "Camp Concierge."
This year, we have simplified the registration process. We have created a single registration form that can be used for all camp programs. We also detached it from the Guide so you can make additional copies (or download copies from our website) — one for each camper. We have also included EZ guides that provide a quick view on what camps are available by age or by dates.
All of this information is also available on our website, www.jccdenver.org. Stay tuned for on-line registration and using email as a way to communicate for all camp programs. If you want to talk to someone about all your options, you can find us at the Camp Central office at the JCC, off the main lobby. Or call Amy Jacobs at 303-316-6383. Come camp with us this summer. We have something for everyone.
An extraordinary array of OPTIONS awaits you and your children at the JCC, MACC and at the DENVER CAMPUS FOR JEWISH EDUCATION (DCJE) this summer. You can choose HALF-DAY or FULL-DAY camps, or multiple-day sessions at the RANCH CAMP sleep-away camp in the Black Forest. With the help of this guide, you can MIX AND MATCH recreational and cultural programs for a full summer of fun. We’ve got day camps for kids from PRESCHOOL THROUGH GRADE 12, along with one-week TENNIS, SPECIALITY and SPORTS camps, ART and THEATRE academies and ON-THE-ROAD ADVENTURES for middle schoolers. Whatever you choose, you’re sure to find the perfect fit for your children’s INTERESTS and YOUR SCHEDULE at the JCC, MACC and DCJE.
Designing Your Summer of Fun
To plan the best possible summer for your child, you’ll want to set aside some time to familiarize yourself with the contents of this Summer Fun Guide. Be sure to consult the EZ Find Grids by age and date. Our staff is eager to help you, so please contact us with your questions or concerns.
Registration Timeline
In order to make signing up as convenient as possible for parents, some important changes have been made to the registration process for JCC camps and the MACC’s summer academies. Registration has already opened for the J-CC Ranch Camp (a residential camp for grades 2–11) and Camp Shai, the JCC ’s summer day camp for kids entering Kindergarten through grade 12. Consult this guide for information on camp programs and session dates, call our Camp Central office at (303) 316-6383, or visit www.jccdenver.org and www.ranchcamp.org.
For information on Camp Shalom (ages 2–5) registration, please click here.
MACC Academy Registration
Because of the popularity of the MACC’s Art Academy (grades 1–10) and Wolf Theatre Academy (grades PreK–12), the Center has adopted a priority registration system, which has drastically reduced wait-times.
Parents of previous attendees of JCC and MACC programs will receive registration materials in the mail; if you are interested in Priority Registration, you must return your entry form by Monday, Feb. 4, 2008. You will receive your priority number by late February; your number will determine your registration time.
Early registration will be held on Sunday, March 9 (registration for the general public begins on Wednesday, March 12). Registration will proceed in half-hour increments, beginning at 9 a.m. For more information (303) 316-6386 or (303) 316-6383. Parents should note that many classes still have availability after the early registration event.
Changes to Your Registration
Changes to registrations for JCC and MACC summer programs may be made at no additional charge through Friday,May 16, 2008.Due to staffing and program costs, changes after May 16, 2008 will include the following administrative fees:
• Programs with tuition of $150 or more: $40/change
• Programs with tuition of less than $150: $30/change
All changes must be made two weeks prior to the start of a camp session or program. The JCC and MACC are unable to offer refunds for absences or withdrawal from a program.
Membership and Registration
You must hold a JCC (Chai) family membership in order to register your child in any JCC or MACC program. The membership is available for an annual fee of $56/family. If you are not a current JCC member, please complete the Chai membership form in this guide and enclose it with your registration.
If a class or session is full, you will be placed on a waiting list. Your place on the waiting list is determined by the date on which your registration form was received. Your deposit will be returned if no space opens up for the program.

Supervised Lunch
Children who attend both a morning and an afternoon half-day program must either 1) register for Supervised Lunch or 2) sign the Meal Release Waiver on the camp registration form. The waiver releases the JCC from the responsibility for supervising your child during the lunch period between camps. Supervised Lunch is open only to campers attending both morning and afternoon half-day programs. Children who register for Supervised Lunch will be escorted to and from camps.
Camp Shalom and Camp Shai provide lunchtime supervision; children enrolled in these camps should not register for Supervised Lunch. Children taking a morning program at the JCC,MACC and an afternoon program at DCJE should register for Supervised Lunch at the JCC/MACC. Children spending the morning at the DCJE and the afternoon at the JCC/MACC should register for Supervised Lunch at DCJE. Please indicate the location of your Supervised Lunch on your registration form.
For more information, call (303) 316-6386 for JCC Supervised Lunch and (720) 449-9558 for DCJE Supervised Lunch. Space in these programs is limited; registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Signing In and Out

(Unless they are 16 or older, siblings may not sign for campers.) Participants who are 12 or older do not have to follow this procedure. Supervised Lunch participants will be signed out of morning classes and into afternoon classes by staff.
