Camp Shai – Mission and Values

Camp Shai provides an exciting and innovative, values-based Jewish summer day camping experience. We encourage the personal growth of each of our campers through a variety of fun and engaging learning opportunities, guided by a highly-trained and caring staff. Campers will acquire new skills, develop a sense of self and independence while also discovering what it means to belong to a safe, supportive and enriching community. Children will discover their own Jewish Journey and will have an amazing time doing it!

Inclusivity is an essential component of the Camp Shai experience. Campers, staff and parents of all faiths and backgrounds will feel a part of the Camp Shai community, through the daily practice of universal values that we learn from our Jewish traditions.

Camp Shai Middot (values)
There are four Middot (values) at the center of the Camp Shai community:

Chesed (Kindness)
Kavod (Respect)
Acharayut (Responsibility)
Shituf Peulah (Cooperation)
These values are the basis for everything we do at Camp Shai and are woven into every aspect of camp. Every morning at our morning circle we will award the “Might Middot” to campers and staff, recognizing them for instances in which they were exemplars of our Middot. Our goal is for all members of our community to feel valued for who they are and what they bring to one another.
