In this interactive and hands-on workshop students will learn how to express themselves creatively and understand the world around them through photography. From photographic scavenger hunts, to fashion shoots and the making of fun photographic ornaments, mosaics and photo frames, students will come away with a strong eye and a passion for photography. Students must provide their own basic digital point-and-shoot camera.

If you feel confident about operating a camera but want to develop your skills and personal style and participate in fun shooting assignments, this class is for you! In this hands-on interactive workshop you will create your own photographic and print portfolio as well as crafting many alternative photo products. Students must provide their own basic digital point and shoot camera.

Explore the fascinating world of light and shadow while learning about shadow puppets and techniques from around the world. We will enact our own poems using individually designed shadow puppets and miniature shadow theatres. This class will culminate in an exciting and dramatic performance at the end of the week!
In this class we will listen to stories of mythological creatures and then create them in clay. Students will also invent a fantastical hero, monster or other creature and design a home for it. Come let your imagination go wild while working with clay!

We’ll explore a wide range of traditional and contemporary crafting processes, constructing objects and mixed media projects using print photographs, collage, transfer processes and more. Come join us and see how far we can push the boundaries of traditional photography!
Learn about famous cases of art forgery and try your hand at copying some of the world’s most well-known paintings. We’ll take a look at art works by Van Gogh, Picasso, Matisse, and others, and try our hand at copying their style using drawing, painting and paper collage techniques. After the session you will have your own gallery of famous art to take home, including your own version of the Mona Lisa!
We will focus on developing comic strips and single panel gags, learning how to use words and drawings together to tell a story. Each class session will involve two different comic or drawing games. Examples include daredoodles and opposites, character designs, comic games and dramatic readings.

From the Brothers Grimm to Harry Potter, learn about the folklore behind these pop-culture garden sculptures. Use clay to create one or two personal gnomes to guard the treasures hidden within your own garden.
Come explore the exciting possibilities of combining glass art with mixed media materials. Students will have an opportunity to experiment with glass fusing, glass painting and mosaic, incorporating these techniques into a variety of small mixed-media projects.
We will create wiggly teapots, cups, and saucers in this camp inspired by the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland. Students will use clay to sculpt their own versions of the silly place settings used by the Mad Hatter in Lewis Carroll’s famous story. We will learn about the castles constructed in medieval times and create our own versions in clay. Experiment with adding your own architectural elements while creating fanciful creatures to guard your miniature castle!
Come explore the magical world of fish and other underwater creatures. We’ll take a close look at different types of fish and study their appearance, then sculpt our own aquatic creatures in clay. Use hand building techniques and specialized tools to decorate the surface of your fish, focusing on the detail and patterning of fish scales, fins and tails. Use brightly colored glazes to depict the breathtaking colors of tropical fish if you wish!
Paper is an unexpectedly versatile material. It comes in dozens of variations and the ways it can be used to make beautiful art objects is limitless. Using paper and cardboard we’ll create cards, collages, sculptures and constructions. Weave it, make mosaics, masks, mobiles, books, and even build a decorative kite to fly!
Each day Betsy will create several imagination stations in the classroom selecting from ALL of the materials available. You will be able to explore these stations as you develop your own personal solutions to different visual assignments. Use everything you know about art and materials to create your own unique mixed media projects!

Over 5000 years old, the "lost wax" bronze casting process is still prized for its ability to achieve fine detail. This class offers students an introduction to this process, as well as a variety of other sculpting methods and materials. Each student has the opportunity to create an original small sculpture in wax, and then we will have it cast in bronze at a professional foundry. Students will be working with hot wax and a variety of sculpture tools. Tuition includes 1.5 lbs. of bronze, the casting and finish work for one small bronze sculpture. There will be an additional fee for artworks weighing over 1.5 lbs. Families will be notified when artworks are ready for pickup.

From bees and butterflies to dragonflies and ants, we’ll get ideas from the appearance and behavior of the world’s most fascinating and beautiful bugs. Come learn about clay construction techniques and glazing while creating unique ceramic insects to take home.
