Join Team Denver!
The 2010 JCC Maccabi Games® promise to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Jewish teenagers in our community. As the host city, our goal is to include every eligible teen on Team Denver who wants to be a part of the excitement.

There are so many ways to participate! If you are a Jewish teen ages 12–16 Team Denver wants you! Compete as an individual athlete (ages 12–16), be part of a team (ages 13–16), or use your writing or photography talents as a journalist in the Star Reporter program.

Bowling • Golf • Swimming • Tennis • Track and Field

The 2010 Denver JCC Maccabi Games® Offer Teens 8 Months Worth of Benefits Including:

  • Teen membership to the JCC Sports and Fitness Center Jan.- Aug. 2010
  • Participation in team building events free of charge including: Team Denver Rockies’ Game, JCC lock-in social, bowling party, pool party and more…

Registration & Payment

The Games participation fee is $895/per athlete. Please visit our discount and scholarship opportunities tabs for assistance with this fee. Please note that there are several steps to take to register as a Team Denver athlete. We appreciate your taking the time to complete the following steps:

1. Complete the LOCAL Denver Athlete Registration Form (download here) and submit to the Maccabi office along with the registration fee.
2. Complete and submit Athlete Confirmation Kit (Due no later than April 17. )
3. Complete the NATIONAL Online Registration at www.jccmacreg.org to be an ATHLETE and HOST FAMILY. See the registration page for helpful tips to guide you through the registration process.

Scholarships

Thank you for your interest in the JCC Maccabi Games®. The $895 participation fee covers JCCA registration fees, security, uniforms, nightly social events, meals, transportation, coaching and supervision.

The Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC) is pleased to offer financial assistance whenever possible, recognizing the needs of families in our community who want to participate in our programs but who are unable to afford full fees.

The JCC seeks the cooperation of those requesting assistance in order to facilitate a fair and orderly process. Please submit the signed application (by both parents if applicable) and fill in all information fields to the best of your ability.

Discount Opportunities

Early Deposit Discount-$100 off the $895 Games participation fee per athlete
To receive this discount, simply submit a $100 deposit prior to Jan. 15, 2010 (This date has been extended from the original Dec. 31st deadline due to an enthusiastic response.) The $100 deposit is refundable up until Feb. 15, 2010 if plans change making the athlete unable to participate in the Games.

Full Payment Discount-$50 off the $895 Games participation fee per athlete
Payment must be made in full by February 15, 2010 to receive this discount.

Sibling Discount-$100 off the $895 Games participation fee per athlete!
Any athlete who has a sibling also registered to participate in the Games may receive this discount. $100 will be deducted from the total Games participation fee for each athlete. A family with two children participating in the Games, will receive $200 off of their family’s total fees.

Athlete Referral Discount-$50 off the $895 Games participation fee per athlete/per referral
Refer your friends! For each athlete that you refer and that registers to join Team Denver naming you as their referring friend, you will receive a $50 discount applied to your Games participation fee. There is a maximum of 2 referrals per athlete. This discount excludes referrals made to any athlete with prior JCC Maccabi Games® experience, either as part of Team Denver or another delegation. If referred athlete does not participate, the $50 received discount will be billed to your account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to be a JCC member to tryout?
A: No.

Q: Can I tryout for more than one sport?
A: Yes. In fact, we encourage every athlete to try out for more than one team and/or individual sport.

Q: What team and individual sports competitions will be at the JCC Maccabi Games®?
A: The team sports are boy’s and girl’s basketball, boy’s and girl’s soccer, boy’s baseball, girl’s volleyball and co-ed flag football. The individual sports are tennis, swimming, bowling, golf, track and field.

Q: Can I play more than one sport at the Games?
A: No. You can only compete in one sport at the Games.

Q: Do you have to be Jewish to participate in the Games?
A: All JCC Maccabi Games® athletes must have at least one Jewish parent, but everyone can get involved by volunteering before and during the Games.

Q: Is there an age requirement to participate as an athlete?
A: Yes. You must be between the ages of 13 and 16 as of July 31, 2010 for any team sport and between the ages of 12 and 16 as of July 31, 2010 for any individual sport.

Q: I just miss the cut off and will be 17, can I still participate?
A: Yes. 17–20 year olds can volunteer and be part of the JCC Maccabi Alumni Club.

Q: Can I participate, as an athlete, in the Games if I can’t be there all week?
A: No. As an athlete you must commit to the entire week.

Q: What if I’m not a superstar athlete?
A: Team Denver offers a variety of choices for every teenager who wants to participate. In addition to team sports, consider an individual sport, or sign up to be a photographer or journalist for our Star Reporter program.

Q: Are there tryouts?
A: Yes. For team sports it is required you attend at least one tryout session as directed by your sport.

Q: Will there be practices?
A: Yes. Each coach will determine his or her own practice schedule.

Q: I usually go away to camp. Do I need to be around throughout the summer?
A: No. Many athletes are away during the summer; however, athletes must be available to practice during the school year.

Q: Are there any fees involved?
A: Yes. $895 per athlete. Check out our discount opportunities tab.

Q: Can my friends and family attend my games?
A: Yes, spectators are required to obtain a spectator pass which permits them entry into venues and Opening Ceremonies only.

Q: What do the Athlete Game Fees include?
A: Fees include Opening Ceremonies and Closing Party, JCCA registration fees, security, uniforms, nightly social events, meals, transportation, coaching and supervision.
