Changing Economy Mandates a New Membership Format
Although a troubled economy has made a membership rate increase necessary, the JCC & MACC continue to provide superior programming while seeking new ways to offer member savings
Becoming a Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center member has always been a prerequisite to participation in JCC and MACC programming. These lowannual fees offset the costs for producing and mailing all JCC and MACC publications (including the In the Loup issue you’re reading right now) and go toward general overhead costs.
“On the positive side, the portion of your annual fee that is in excess of $25 is now tax deductible.”
Unfortunately, our operating costs have risen in proportion to increasing oil prices, food prices and increased postage rates. Therefore, we reluctantly have been forced to increase our membership rates to cover our costs. The new annual membership fees are:
- $60/year for individuals (18—60 years)
- $90/year for a mini-family (two people living at the same household address)
- $100/year for families (two adults and children under 18)
- $30/year for senior individuals (61+ years)
- $60/year for senior couples
Memberships at the Tennis and Sports & Fitness Centers are available for additional fees. Memberships must be renewed annually, and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
On the positive side, the portion of your annual fee that is in excess of $25 is now tax deductible. This means that individuals may claim $35, mini-families may claim $65, familiesmay claim$75, senior individuals may claim $5, and senior couples may claim $35.
Also, the JCC is offering gift cards thatmake up for the rate increase in exchange for a multi-year prepayment. Beginning this fall, members who choose to pre-pay their annual membership dues for two or three years in advance receive a JCC gift card, applicable to any JCC member services except for making Sports & Fitness Center monthly membership payments. Members receive a $50 gift card when providing a two-year pre-payment, and a $100 gift card for a three-year pre-payment. (Senior gift cards are $25 and $50 respectively.)
Finally, some programs will allow participation without becoming a JCC member. In this case, program cost is 20-percent higher than the membership rate. If a programpermits this option, it will be indicated under the program descriptions found in the seasonal activity guides (available for free in the main lobby) and on our websites at www.jccdenver.org and www.maccjcc.org.
We realize that the current economic situation is affecting everyone in someway. In this light, we pledge to continue providing you and your family with outstanding programming and staff. We also continue to adopt cost saving practices so that we can prevent further rate increases.Questionsmay be directed toKathy Boyle at (303) 316-6302.
