Holiday Luncheons

Celebrate the holidays a few days early at the JCC! Besides lively conversations, guests can expect sit-down service, beautifully appointed tables, traditional holiday dishes, live entertainment and door prizes. We will celebrate Passover together (a few days early)—Tuesday March 16

Spend your Tuesday mornings with this lively group! Each week features a different program. Topics include informative talks by experts on subjects such as medicine and global policy, slide shows complete with anecdotes of trips to exotic locales, and even live entertainment featuring musicians, dancers, singers and actors.

Let’s Write with Susan Jacobs
Mondays, 9—11 a.m.
Free
Seniors in the Let’sWrite class put pen to paper under the guidance of Susan Jacobs,who holds a degree in gerontology, and who has volunteered at the JCC for over 25 years. Jacobs suggests a theme or topic, sometimes bringing in a picture or a poem for inspiration. Following a discussion of the topic, the class gets down to work, producing writing that is spontaneous, inventive and heartfelt. The last portion of each session is devoted to reading aloud and responding to each writing selection.

Mah Jongg
Mondays & Wednesdays, 12:30 p.m.

For the experienced player. If four or more beginners attend, an additional table will be set up to accommodate them. Wednesday is Mah Jongg “game day” and also offers a class for beginners. Reservations are required for the beginner class; please call Lil at (303) 316-6359.

Rabbi Gitler, spiritual leader of the East Denver Orthodox Synagogue, discusses relevant holidays and practical themes in Judaism—everything you always wanted to know about Judaism! Learned and compassionate, Rabbi Gitler encourages questions. After all, it’s never too late to learn about our wonderful heritage.

Lomir Redn Yiddish Club with Reyzele Kirkel
First Wednesday and Third Tuesdays of the month, 12:30—2 p.m.

Rosalyn “Reyzele” Kirkel, a native Yiddish speaker from Lithuania leads this lively class appropriate for all levels. Reyzele studied at the Vilnius Program in Yiddish under director Dovid Katz, and popular Yiddish storyteller at the Yugntruf Yidish-Vokh summer language immersion (retreat) program. A member of the Boulder Yiddish Vinkl, Reyzele has performed at many Yiddish storytelling events and is the president of the Colorado Jewish Child Survivors of the Holocaust.
