About Pilates Fitness
Pilates (pronounced pi-lah-teez) is a DYNAMIC, non-impact fitness exercise program that combines STRETCHING and STRENGTHENING movements with elements of weight training and breath work. Pilates builds core strength, elongates and balances the muscular system, brings the body into proper alignment and increases balance and flexibility. From athletes like Jason Kidd and Tiger Woods to actors like Danny Glover and Madonna, MEN AND WOMEN around the country are REAPING THE BENEFITS
of Pilates. Whether you’re looking to IMPROVE your agility,BUILD core strength, ELIMINATE chronic back pain, take your athletic performance to another level, or maximize your body’s movement potential, Pilates can HELP YOU ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS.
Complimentary Demonstrations
Have you ever wanted to experience Pilates on the equipment? Are you curious as to the difference between Mat Pilates and Pilates on the machines? If so, these demonstrations are perfect for you! We host a complimentary demonstration the last Sunday of every month from 11:30 a.m.–12:20 p.m. Guests are welcome but registration is required. For more information or to register, visit www.jccdenver.org, or contact Pilates Coordinator Lisa Tanguma at ltanguma@jccdenver.org.
Getting Started Package
This package is for those who have never taken Pilates on a machine. Because of the unique movements and specialized equipment in the Pilates program, FUNDAMENTAL sessions are mandatory for participation on the Allegro.
After mastering beginner classes, we encourage those ready for a bigger challenge to move up the Pilates ladder into Intermediate and Advanced Allegro classes. Scheduling additional private or semi-private sessions to learn advanced techniques with a Pilates personal trainer is required. The ability to master movements depends on the individual and there is no set time for moving up to harder classes. *General classes may not be suitable for individuals with conditions or needs that may affect the ability to attend group classes. Those with special conditions should have a consultation to determine abilities.
Group Allegro Classes:
Enjoy a 50-minute workout session in an intimate class setting offering personalized attention. For a reservation in any Allegro Reformer or Tower/Chair class, participants can go on-line, sign in at the sports desk, or by calling at least 24 hours in advance.Due to limited space, a 24-hour cancellation notice is required for

Having transformed my own body and enhanced my body awareness and understanding through pilates I believe that anyone can do it. Pilates is not only an invaluable tool for rehab but an invaluable tool for “prehab” – conditioning and balancing the body to prevent injury. Your workouts should leave you feeling energized and relaxed and keep your body feeling good.Hobbies:
When I am not practicing Pilates I enjoy relaxing with my family. My 5 year old son keeps me forever on my toes trying to keep up with him. We enjoy reading, swimming, skiing and playing games.Bio:
Samantha discovered Pilates 8 years ago while rehabbing a whiplash injury and hasn’t stopped since. Her love for Pilates and belief in its benefits led her to get her Polestar Pilates certification this year and ramp up her fitness to a whole new level. She is a mother and can often be found at the JCC pool during the summer with a group of kids. In her spare time she enjoys reading, skiing, cooking and spending time with her family. Samantha enjoys helping people awaken muscles that may have laid dormant for years and challenge their bodies in new and different ways while keeping her classes fun and stimulating.Whitney Olmstead
