SNAG Golf (ages 5—8) – “Starting New At Golf” (SNAG) is a revolutionary new training system for beginner golfers using the best golf equipment around. SNAG’s approach to teaching golf is fun, creative and educational. Camper/staff ratio is 8:1.

Wii Camp (ages 6—14) – This brand new camp mixes virtual and reality! Experience the Wii phenomenon on our cube to improve bowling or golf or tennis skills. Play against your friends and have a blast! Skill work then continues outside in the fresh air. This camp is the perfect mix of inside and outside activities!

Multi Sports Camp (ages 6—14) – Multi-sport sessions provide kids with the opportunity to spend the summer playing a variety of sports: soccer, nuke-‘em, capture the flag, gaga, kickball and more.Weekly field trips to bowl and play putt-putt are included, and every Friday is spent poolside at the JCC.

Serve, Snack and Splash (ages 5—8) – The tennis and aquatics departments pair up again to offer nine weeks and even Post- and Last Chance Camps. Swim instructors and the tennis Pee Wee pro instructors lead two groups; girls and boys ages 5-8 years. Emphasis is on learning and improving “strokes” on land and in the water. Five to six year olds start with tennis; seven and eight year olds swim first. The two groups join for snack time at the outdoor pool pavilion/play ground area. Add supervised lunch to make it a full day.

Camp Shai offers year-round vacation options. Camp Shai’s summer day camp for campers entering grades K-12 brings age-appropriate adventures for your child or teenager.Whether or not your child has attended our summer camp, he or she will enjoy Camp Shai’s school vacation adventures. for $6/hr. There will be no Sunset on Monday, March 29 due to an early closure for Passover. There will be no camp on Tuesday, March 30 in observance of Passover.

Early registration for MACC academies and the JCC member registration for Camp Shalom is Sunday, March 7. General registration for MACC academies opens on Wednesday, March 10 and Monday, March 8 for Camp Shalom.


Summer Camp Registration

You must complete a separate registration form for each child, and enclose a $200 deposit for each child for each session. All deposits are non-refundable. Your deposit will reserve your space until the final payment deadline. Deposits are transferable to other JCC/MACC summer camp programs.

Changes to registrations for JCC and MACC camp programs may be made at no additional charge through Friday,May 21, 2010. Changes afterMay 21, 2010 will include the following administrative fees: programs with tuition of $150, $40/change; programs with tuition of less than $150, $30/change. All changes must be made two weeks prior to the start of a camp session or program. The JCC and MACC are unable to offer refunds for absences or withdrawal from a program.

Payment

If your camp fees are not paid by the deadline, your deposit may be forfeited, and re-application may be necessary.No refunds for any reason will be made after the final payment deadline. Campers may not be allowed to participate if the balance due is unpaid by Friday,May 21, 2010.

All cancellations must be made in writing and submitted to the Camp Central office. If your cancellation is received after the final payment deadline, you will be charged the full amount due, whether or not your child attends. Payment in full must accompany registrations for Sunrise and Sunset (including extended-day punch cards), Chaverim Mini, Post Camp and Last Chance Camp and all Lego® Camps. These payments are non-refundable.

Health Forms

All children must have had a physical exam after Sept. 1, 2008. Camper information and health forms will be mailed to you after your camper’s registration has been received and confirmed. Please fill out and return the forms to the Camp Central office by Friday, May 21, 2010. If forms are not completed and returned to the Camp Central office prior to the beginning of camp, your camper will not be allowed to participate.

Children with Special Needs

Camp Shai welcomes children with special needs who have completed Kindergarten. Please call the Camp Central office to obtain an application. After you have submitted your application, an in-depth interview with the camp director will be conducted to determine your camper’s individual needs, so that we can create a successful match between your camper and our programs. Under the supervision of caring counselors, Chaverim campers enjoy a traditional day camp experience that includes swimming,GaGa, arts and crafts, singing, sports, science projects, field trips and activities based on our Judaic curriculum. Campers spend the day in small, closely supervised “cabin” groups. All Chaverim campers swim in the Chotin FamilyOutdoor Pool four days a week, and younger Chaverim campers also enjoy weekly swim lessons. Chaverim campers venture out to cool destinations that include aquatic parks like Pirates Cove and The Splash at Fossil Trace; bowling and miniature golf; Jungle Quest; and many more fun adventures. Our older Chaverim campers enjoy field trips to destinations including“The Spot”BoulderingGym, a Colorado Rockies Game, X-treme Challenge Sports Arena and much more. Equally cool in-camp visitors bring activities ranging from Mad Science toDance Trax, enhancing every camper’s experience **Session IIIA will be a 2-week session but will follow the same daily format as sessions I and II. On The Road (OTR)
Grades 6—9

On the Road is geared to the interests of older kids. The OTR group meets at camp in themorning and then head out for daily adventures. Campers make lifetime friendships as they enjoy adventures that include team-building at X-treme Challenge Sports Arena, indoor rock climbing, swimming at the JCC, swim trips at Pirates Cove and Apex, hiking at Red Rocks and learning how they can make a difference in their community. Activities like overnight camping trips and white-water rafting combine teamwork and independence while offering campers personal challenges.This year, campers enjoy perennial favorites that include trips toWaterWorld, Elitch Gardens, hiking and ropes courses, along with tons of new stuff. Overnights include river rafting, horseback riding and an overnight designed by current and former On The Road campers and staff. Although adventures often draw campers away from the JCC Campus, the heart of OTR is still with Camp Shai. OTR campers join Camp Shai for swimming, the Maccabi Games, in-camp theme days and every Friday to welcome Shabbat. For more information, please call (303) 316-6392.

Counselor in Training (CIT)
Grades 8—9

The Counselor in Training programis a leadership development program that provides hands-on learning experience and is designed to prepare older children to become future leaders and camp counselors. CITs serve as assistants in Chaverim cabin groups and as mentors throughout Camp Shai. Members of this elite group also enjoy specialized training throughout the summer that has been designed to improve their leadership and counseling skills and give themthe tools necessary to be an effective leader. In order to become a CIT, all applicantsmust fill out a Counselor In Training application andmeet with the CIT director for an interview. This camp requires a full session commitment and fulfills community service requirements at many schools. **Session IIIA will be a 2-week session. Teen Interns (Volunteer)
Grades 10—11

Full-day, 3-week sessions

Teen Interns serve as assistant staff members in the Chaverim and On The Road programs. All interns must first complete the Camp Shai Counselor In Training program or other camp CIT/SIT training program prior to becoming and intern. Extended Day Programs: Sunrise and Sunset

The Sunrise and Sunset Extended Day programs, which are fully integrated into Camp Shai’s programming, are available to all JCC and MACC campers who are entering grades K–10 and at least five
years old. Fees, which are non-refundable,must be paid in full at the time of registration. Drop-in care is based on availability, and fees are due the day of service. Punch cards for 30 hours of drop-in service for either Sunrise or Sunset are available at a cost of $175. Punch Cards may be used only during Camp Shai’s three main sessions (June 1–July 30, 2010); Punch Cards CANNOT be used during Chaverim Mini, Post or Last Chance Camps. Engineering Fundamentals

Design and build motorized machines, catapults, pyramids, demolition derby cars, truss and suspension bridges, buildings and other constructions. Explore concepts in physics, mechanical engineering, structural engineering and architecture while playing with your favorite creations. This is a hands-on and minds-on class suitable for LEGO® building system novices to “maniacs.” Second week students work on new projects and challenges.
