Happy Flag Day!

Do you know why Flag Day is celebrated on June 14 in the United States?
It is celebrated on June 14 because it commemorates both the adoption of The Stars and Stripes flag of the United States, which occurred June 14, 1777, and the creation of The United States Army which was created June 14, 1775.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress. Flag Day is not an official federal holiday. (read more)

Traffic Alert

Expect heavy traffic on Leetsdale and Dahlia June 27 – July 1

Starting Monday, June 27, Xcel Energy will complete work in and around our property that will impact traffic on Dahlia and Leetsdale. Dahlia will only be open to southbound traffic. They predict this work will only last a week.

Parking along Dahlia will not be available and may lead to more congestion than usual in our parking lot. If no spots are available in the main lot, you may park in the dirt lot across the street (south of the Greek Orthodox Church).

If you are not dropping off or picking up for camp, we recommend planning your trip to The J to avoid peak hours as the parking lot will be extra congested during these times:

  • 8:35 am – 9:15 am
  • 11:45 am – 12:15 pm
  • 3:00 pm – 4:15 pm

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience!

The Greek Festival is June 17 – 19. During this time, parking in the Greek Orthodox Church dirt lot on Dahlia will be unavailable. Additional parking will be available in the paved lot located at Augustana Church off Forest Street or along Dahlia Street.
