Parent Involvement

The goal of the Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is to support and encourage the partnership between families, teachers, and staff at the JCC ECC. The PIC sponsors numerous activities and events including holiday festivals, children’s safety events, and staff appreciation activities. The PIC is an integral part of our school’s success, and it is the main mechanism for parents to get involved in their child’s school experience.

We would like to encourage ALL families to get involved in the JCC ECC community in any way they can. There are many opportunities to participate that encompass a variety of skills and time commitments, ranging from a couple of hours for a specific event to ongoing activities.

PIC COMMITTEES

• Fundraising – Work with the JCC ECC teachers and staff to organize fundraising events that will support scholarships, professional development, enrichment programs and educational resources for the school.
• Health and Safety – Help organize safety demonstrations and lessons for the JCC ECC children as a part of “Safety Month” events in the spring.
• Room Parents – Play a key role in fostering connections among the JCC-ECC teachers, staff and families. Help create a sense of community by supporting your child’s classroom teachers, welcoming parents and children to the classroom, and facilitating communication among parents.
• School-wide Events – Work collaboratively with the JCC ECC teachers and staff on school-wide celebrations for the whole community. This will include the Chanukah Festival (December 2011), and Purim Festival (March 2012).
• Staff Appreciation – Help show appreciation to the teachers and staff of the JCC ECC through events such as weekly treats, holiday gifts for all staff, and end-of-year staff appreciation events and party.

Here are a few ideas for specific ways to support the ECC, classes and the PIC!

• Join the PIC or participate on a specific committee
• Attend a PIC meeting (check out the school calendar for details)
• Share a talent in your child’s class (read a story, make a snack, share music or a craft)
• Donate supplies to support the ECC (check your class wish list, PIC upcoming activities; ask a Room Parent, Teacher, or staff)
• Volunteer to support an ECC event
• Join in the fun at Shabbot on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the JCC Main Lobby
