Not only was Don a former JCC boardmember and past president of the JCC, he remained interested in and committed to the JCC in the decades following his tenure. As a JCC member, he was something of a beloved institution here, regularly coming to the J to kibbitz with friends in the Men’s Locker Room and to enjoy relaxing in the shvitz. Don also co-chaired the Ozzie Malek JCC Hold ‘EmPoker Tournament in its formative years, and helped establish the event as an important fixture on the Denver community calendar.
As a true friend of the Center who called the J a ‘home away from home,’ Don’s passing will be sorely felt by those of us who regularly encountered his engaging smile, humor, honesty and humanity. We extended our sympathies to the Kaufmann family and pray they find comfort among the mourners of Zion.
