Rosh Chodesh

  • Observation Dates : May 5th - 6th

is the name for the first day of every month in the Hebrew calendar, marked by the appearance of the New Moon. It is considered a minor holiday, akin to the intermediate days of Passover and Sukkot.

Yom Hashoah

  • Observation Dates : May 1st

Also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day. "Shoah" is the Hebrew word for the Holocaust. This is a memorial day for those who died in the Holocaust.

Yom Ha'Atzmaut

  • Observation Dates : May 8th

Israeli Independence Day, marking the establishment of the modern state of Israel in 1948. According to some views, the restrictions of the Omer period are lifted for this day. A few anti-Zionist Jews observe this day as a day of mourning for the sin of proclaiming the state of Israel without the Messiah.

Lag Ba'Omer

  • Observation Dates : May 23rd

A minor holiday on which the mourning restrictions of the Omer period are lifted.
